In that capacity, Thomas Disselkamp supervises the development of new electrical and electronic products. Founded almost 50 years ago by a group of Twin Cities “rodders,” the MSRA now boasts 13,000 members and hosts a famous annual Back to the 50s weekend. This iconic event features thousands of street rods and other custom, classic, and restored vehicles from 1964 or earlier that all converge on the streets of the State Fairgrounds over a three-day period. In addition to the vintage automobiles, the event features live 1950s music, entertainment, and a variety of activities and exhibits for adults and children. It attracts visitors from all over the world and has appeared in auto magazines like Street Rodder and Nitro. The TNN show My Classic Car also highlighted the event.
The 2014 Back to the 50s Weekend marks the 41st anniversary of the event and will take place June 20-22. Registration for the event already includes more than 12,000 vehicles, an all-time high.
