Since 1981, Unbound has strived to empower families to become self-sufficient by providing resources and access to health care, nutrition, education, skills training, housing, and seed capital for new sources of livelihood. The nonprofit makes it all possible through different types of planned giving, including the Unbound Scholarship Program.
Established in 1998, the Unbound Scholarship Program awards scholarships to high school and college students so they may continue their education and achieve valuable skills to succeed in their chosen careers. In 2018, the Unbound Scholarship Program granted 8,447 scholarships amounting to $3.5 million to deserving students. The recipients of the scholarship award are chosen by the administrators of the program, who evaluate students’ financial capacity as well as their willingness and potential to take on leadership roles and participate in volunteer work within their communities.
